Rodalquilar: Bateria de San Ramon.

<italiano>

Bateria de San Ramon is a fortress built in 1764. It is one of the nine fortresses built by king Carlos III to defend the coast between Malaga and Almeria from attacks by Berber pirates.

The fortress, which stands next to the beautiful beach called El Playazo, is today completely renovated; it is state property and is on sale for 3 million euros.

The area between Rodalquilar and El Playazo was used by Sergio Leone in Per qualche Dollaro in più, Il Buono il Brutto il Cattivo and Giù la Testa. I have documented scenes from these films on this page.

However, Bateria San Ramon has hosted scenes from some other films:

  • Dio Perdona… io no! – 1967 – directed by da Giuseppe Colizzi
  • John il Bastardo – 1967 – directed by Armano Crispino
  • Da Uomo a Uomo – 1967 – directed by Giulio Petroni

It seems that in 1967 this location was very popular. The layout of the fortress in John the Bastard is interesting: it had been completely painted white.

Furthermore, many of the scenes were filmed indoors; but this area is currently inaccessible.
